Dyed Hair
Hair dyeing is a common aesthetic choice but also a chemical process that alters the natural structure of the hair. For color pigments to be fixed in the cortex—the inner layer of the hair where natural melanin resides—the protective layer (cuticle) must be opened, increasing the hair’s porosity.
Although hair dyes do not directly affect the follicle and do not cause alopecia, frequent and intensive use can weaken the hair, making it more brittle, dry, and prone to breakage. In addition, certain ingredients in hair dyes can cause irritation and allergic reactions such as itching, redness, burning sensations on the scalp, and even swelling around the eyes and face.
Therefore, proper care of dyed hair is essential.
