Oily Dandruff (Seborrheic Type)
Oily dandruff is a form of seborrheic dermatitis characterized by the presence of yellowish or white flakes on the scalp, often accompanied by increased sebum production, itching, and scalp irritation.
This type of dandruff commonly occurs in individuals with oily skin and is associated with the excessive proliferation of the fungus Malassezia, which naturally resides on the skin but can become overactive under certain conditions, leading to inflammatory responses.
The most common causes of oily dandruff include:
- Increased sebum secretion (oily scalp)
- Hormonal imbalance
- Chronic stress
- Inappropriate hair care products
Effective treatment of oily dandruff requires the use of products with antifungal, soothing, and balancing properties that cleanse and refresh the scalp without causing dryness.
